Dextco is a joint venture designed to deliver more efficient heat and power in Devon through ground-breaking sustainable energy projects providing environmentally-friendly energy to homes and businesses. Partners in Dextco are the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, Devon County Council, Exeter City Council, University of Exeter and Teignbridge District Council. The public sector in the area collaborates in many ways, and Exeter has a well-established and demonstrable commitment to the development of heat networks.
Dextco is launching the procurement of a private sector partner to design, build and operate a scheme to deliver district heating in the city centre and potentially in south west Exeter, in summer 2018.
Dextco is also working with North Devon Council on the assessment of district heating potential in Barnstaple. Both projects are part-funded by central government’s Heat Networks Delivery Unit. In addition to this, we are working with Teignbridge District Council on potential district heating schemes in Newton Abbot.
